Protein shakes

I'm only 3 days post op but I was just wondering if I could use frozen fruit in my protein shakes or do I have to wait until the purée stage? What about natural peanut butter?? Having a hard time stomaching the premade shakes and looking for ways to naturally flavour homemade shakes other than using coffee, extracts, cinnamon and cocoa.

Wow! Lucky you, 3 days post op and you are drinking shakes already. I am still on clear liquids for 3 more days :) I am 5 days post op. I guess different centres have different requirements.

Guelph seems to have very conservative guidelines but in my experience, we are better off.  The first couple days of each transition, I struggled and felt kind of gross, but eventually I figured it out. I think going faster would have made things tough for me.  Stick to the plan from the clinic. You will happy you did!

I couldn't stomach the premade or powdered creamy shakes a few days out from surgery also so I switched over to the syntrax nectar roadside lemonade and it has been great so far.  It tastes like lemonade just a little thicker.  I have to wait for the foam to settle before I can drink it cause the foam tastes awful and I add lots of ice.  I just ordered another one and also a fuzzy peach to try through fitshop.ca.  They have free shipping on over $49.  My centre doesn't say fruit is allowed but what about adding PB2 instead of peanut butter, its a powdered peanut butter.  Hope it gets better for you soon.  Lori

frozen fruit is loaded with sugar, so please be VERY careful, if you dump on the sugar you will feel horrific.

Actually using SF syrups to change the flavour is a better way to go & as actual fruit..IMO I would wait a bit longer.

Remember even fruit as in a peach etc is high in sugar
