Hey darbaybe_2014, I also felt that my pre op appointments were the most exciting/nerve wracking appointments of life. I had gained 10 lbs through this time, and I had given a good effort trying to lose the weight, excuses aside I ended up gaining 10 and my dietician appointment was coming around, I thought so deeply to reschedule it and possibly lose the 10 pounds and then right before I made my decision, just go through with it , I deserve my fate. At the appointment she asked how I had gained the weight and I told her that I am actually trying and changing my eating habits and that I am eating well but in larger portions to feel satisfied, and she had told me the best thing ever. She said well honey if you didn't have an issue with portion sizes you wouldn't be here huh? And she said to keep doing what I'm doing and make those small goals, let my body adjust and don't give up no matter what the scale says. She was pleased with my food journals and gave me the go ahead. I may have completely lucked out, but for the most part I feel everyone is kind and understanding. If there is a consequence I just assume it's to have a follow up appointment where changes could be applied!!!
i wish you all the best and this may have calmed some nerves!!

thank you :) I have been keeping my logs and I know where I have gone wrong... I wil try harder for sure....thanks for calming my nerves :)

You just said the key words right there - "I've been keeping my logs and I know where I have gone wrong" - PERFECT! That is exactly what you should be doing and the thought process you should be having - tell them that! Good for you.

My dear friend...at least you know where you've gone wrong. Just try not to stress - is there anything you can do now to fix it before the appointment? probably not, so stressing will only make you want those chippies lol I don't think I gained when I was through the program, but I did ask about it (because I was going on a cruise a month before surgery). They told me you can gain like 5lbs or so and it's fine, but if you gain 15 it's an issue (which is quite a bit to gain lol). Truth is your weight fluctuates daily by 2lbs or so...mine always has and it's apparently normal, so don't worry about it. Tell them you haven't pooped yet that day that's why you weigh more ha ha I told them that :o)
Hello Dar,
I am the same stress eater as you. I eat and grab for something as that coping mechanism.
I've journaled my emotions and causal relationships to my food and the mindless eating I've been doing my life.
By being able to show some weight control, incorporating exercise, 8 K Trail Walks with the dogs 4 days a week and 4 elliptical sets a week has become a 'new coping mechanism' to the stress and food itself for me.
Do not feel your doing something wrong. These teams are smart and want to see us succeed. They know we didn't get to our current weight by healthy eating patterns.
Thanks Wes , I really appreciate your response. I am glad I have this board to ask these questions..and to get honest feedback...it might just take me a little longer to get to surgery if I need another appointment...but I want to be successful and ready for it when it happens :)

Sometimes too, I think, how long and how many years I have making choices that had me turn out like this...and how long it might take to turn things around. With this program, it is nice because it feels like someone is paying attention to something that no one ever did before. Consistent, and constant in from a person whose education is the expertise in food and nutrition, think of it as a mechanic for our bodies...if it does take longer for surgery, think of this time as an investment. With a better interest rate.
