TWH Wait Times (circa 2014)?
I have been creeping on peoples' profiles where they share all of their dates (orientation, appointments, surgery) and trying to gauge what people's experiences have been like this year at TWH. I understand that everyone is a unique snowflake, of course. ;)
I am in no rush to get a date, I am more trying to plan out my preparation side of things (especially when to talk to my boss about being off for 4 weeks). If you've had surgery this year, what was your process like? What was the timeline for all your appointments?
Hi, I had surgery two weeks ago on Aug 11 through TWH.
I received my orientation date on August 27. Orientation was in Oct 2013. NeXT appointments were Jan, Feb, March, May and June. Met the surgeon in July and was given a surgery date that was just over three weeks away from that date. They could have scheduled me to have surgery the week before but due to work reasons I took the later date of the 11th. So all in all, just under 1 long year.
Good luck with your journey.
My time line is :
late April 2013: my doctor sent my information to the Ontario bariatric registry
July 11, 2013: Orientation Class
August 29, 2013: Nurse consult
September 17, 2013: Clinical social work consult, Nutrition class
November 1, 2013: Doctor’s clinical examination
January 22, 2014: Registered dietitian consult
February 7, 2014: Clinical social work follow-up, Doctor’s clinical follow-up
May 22, 2014: Surgery Education class
August 22, 2014: Surgical consult— also got my date, and did my Per-op testing (saw the: nurse, pharmacist, did blood work, EKG, anesthesiologist, and a ton of paper work) also picked up my Opti/liquid diet
August 23, 2014: Started Opti (only on it for 10days yay)
SEPTEMBER 2nd, 2014 @2:00pm: SURGERY DATE
hope that helps
Ditto the above responses...
I don't have all the dates in front of me, but Orientation was Sep/13 and I had surgery Aug 19/14. There was a large gap between my final evaluation with the Psychiatrist to the pick surgery date. At the last evaluation, I did not know if I would get a yea or nay from the group. That last evaluation was around Feb/14 for me. I found out in June that I had an appointment in July with the surgeon. This is the one where you get a limited choice of dates to select from and they were all for the following month (Aug) right up into October, I believe.
All that to say that the end goes real fast unless you need more that 2 weeks Optifast.
That's weird, cause' I just finished my Orientation class Aug 20th. Had Referral in Feb 14, and right now I have my comprehensive blood requisition forms, and ECG form to do. Should they not be doing this sooner towards my surgery date instead? I am at Sudbury Regional up in Northern Ontario, maybe it is done differently here.
As well, we don't have multiple days in between appointments, we are told that it will be a day 1 and 2 affair to ensure we get them done as fast as possible.
Mine has been a 2 year process.
