Hello everyone!
Hi Patm, I too have recently started Afib. I have had 4 trips to emerg for cardioversion since March 1st. I have been shocked up to 3x to get my rate down. Have had a really hard time with meds, now on beta blocker that seems to make the episodes less severe, not over 150-160 bpm. When I go to hospital my rate has been 200+. My last 3 episodes I toughed it out at home, and it finally resolved itself. I am on Pradaxa now. I have been so worried I would be denied surgery due to having Afib, but a cardiophysiologist in emerg, suggested it to me. Did you have any problems with Afib and your surgery? Would love to hear from you, on the forum or you could em me. Thanks, judy.
I had had no problems having the surgery or recovering. The afib seems to be much better the further out I go. They will have you go off the Pradaxa for a few days before surgery but then put you back on in the hospital. When you have your PATTS day the anesthesiologist and pharmacist will go over this with you.
Good luck with your journey
Hello Judy! Congratulations on your decision to better your health. I had my referral sent about a month and half ago, start of June. Was called end of June for my Orientation Date of Sept 03/14. This is for Sudbury Health Sciences. The receptionist at the Bariatric Clinic there had said that I would have had an appointment sooner, however there were fewer Orientation Sessions through the summer. I think three months from referral to orientation is actually quite impressive.
Today I had purchased two boxes of Premier Protein Bars from Costco! I love them with a cup of coffee in the morning for breakfast and or half of one with coffee in the evening. Helps with cravings and stabilizes blood sugar levels. I have had plently of times in the past eating energy bars and loosing the pounds, but they always had come back! This time, RNY will step in. I know I will be successful. I am slowly phasing in the energy bars into my diet....
Although, I will have to cut the coffee a week or so before surgery, OYI.
