Shingles
You're right - it could have been worse. A positive outlook will save you a lot of grief. You're doing so well with your weight loss - 87 pounds is awesome! We started at the same place - 290 pounds, thankfully I lost 170 of that. AND we have the same surgeon!
I try not to knock on wood too much - it hurts (my head). :)

I also had shingles 6 months post op. They lingered for months on the right side of my body and I have scarring in the form of hyperpigmentation from my foot to my hip. Sorry to hear of your diagnosis, but I'm glad to know I'm not the only one. I had not made the connection to my WLS.
I'm incomfortable Pat but not bad

I just want to add my sympathy for you. I had shingles when I was in my 20's, and it really, really sucked. There is a shingles vaccination available now if you are over 50. I am a few years away, but I am definitely getting it when I am old enough, regardless of the cost. This is what happens when you get chicken pox as a kid and then the virus gets reactivated in your system, either through contact with someone who has been around active chicken pox or, as said, you have a weakened immune system.
I hope you feel better soon!
