To Kelly and Karen,

THANK YOU, THANK YOU  both for sharing.  I am one year out now and it terrifies me to know that someone could actually eat a Big Mac or an Easter Creme Egg after having this surgery!  I have not had any "refined" sugar in the last year and pray I never (one day at a time) have sugar again.  Please keep posting and sharing. I, for one, really appreciate it.  Take good care,

Marj

This was a very well-written, well thought out post.  Too often the vets are slammed on OH for giving tough advice instead of hand holding.  I see it everyday here and just shake my head.  It's not surprising that so many successful vets leave in frustration when their experience and "seen it a million times" knowledge is discredited by someone at three weeks post-op.

I learn so much on OH and not often on the main forums.  Due to the TOS, honesty can be a little tough for some people to handle.  I'm grateful that there is a place where I can go on OH and not feel threatened that my comments will be deleted or moderated because they might offend someone.  The vets that I respect are there - it's R&R 3.0 - and are absolutely brilliant.  If you're ready for it, click on the link in my sig line below for an invite.

Again, this was a wonderful post and the vets don't often get the appreciation they deserve.  Thanks for saying what a lot of us are thinking

Well said Kelly.

To all you vets out there...I truly appreciate your honesty and your advice.  You have the experience, and there is something to be said for that.  And I am sure I am not the only newbie who feels this way.

I read, I listen, and I learn.  Thank you!

My sentiments exactly!!!   This newbie respects the vets and I also get offended and pissed right off actually when someone shrugs off some good advice from a 'vet'  I am so new and have already figured out the vets and I am like a sponge learning so much from them all.  Keep up the great work and the huge hearts and advice for us newbies  Don't let the few ignorant out there stop you from the good you do for sooooo many!!! Virtual hugs sent to you vets

Something that took me a long time to realize, is that the vets (including myself) make mistakes....they learned. I thought everyone was perfect, and did everything by the book. Everyone makes mistakes...I certainly did, and I learned from it and i'm happy to help anyone new figure things out...just like the vets did for me :-)
