Expectation...?
I know everyone differs on the weight loss time.. but I'm wondering about how much weight most people have lost in about the first 9 months or so after surgery with rny?
Also, I am still in the process of having surgery..so close yet seems so far still but its closer than I was before, anyway.. now a days every time I look in a mirror I try to see myself smaller and not having a belly in front of me, how hard was it to actually wrap your head around that idea before surgery, knowing that one day it wont be so.... big, I still feel like its so hard to believe and have a really hard time thinking its actually going to happen.
Maybe I'm the only one who thinks this way but who knows.
Even after you start losing weight, you'll have a hard time to get your head wrapped around the idea of being smaller. If your clothes didn't fall off, you wouldn't realize it.
I just posted a chart as to what to expect. I'll post again on here:

One thing I suggest, the day before you start Opti, and the day before you have surgery do 3 things. Take a full body picture, measure yourself (in multiple locations, health tracker can help with where) and weigh yourself. When you think you hit a stall, it might be the scale not moving, but other things are (i.e. inches). Then you can compare through your journey.

Hi,
I am going on 9 weeks post op and went from 258 to 210. I need to get to 170. I stalled at week 5 and 6 post op. Week 7 I got clearance to resume exercise and now the #'s are moving again. It differs for everyone and at my post op class they indicated to be patient and that it can take a year or more. Patience is key.
Having said that there is are so many more benefits you do not think of post op that happen - for me it was no more pain in my shoulders and neck, no more acid reflux, and the best and most surprising result was 9 weeks and no more migraines that I used to get every four days.
So the surgery is awesome and patience required for weight loss!!
Hope this helps.

Hey - started at about 270 3 years ago.
In the first 6 months I lost 130 pounds
Then I lost another 10
Year 2, I gained 15 pounds, and all my acquaintances told me I need to regain that - I had been looking cadaverous.
I have now regained another 10, and want to get that back off. I am confident that with either walking or biking every day after work now I should be able to do it.
One final note - the clothing sizes are what really blew my mind. In the space of eight months, I went from a size 26 to a size 8. I couldn't keep up. It wasn't worth buying anything new at all. I started going to consignment shops, and have never really gone back to new clothing. In the first 2 years, it often happened that I wore an item once and then it was too big, so a waste of money. I found that almost incredible.
