Hello everyone! I must say I've totally been creeping this website and it's where I've found so many answers to my questions! So thank you all!

i was wondering, I am in the process before surgery at HHRH at the internist phase, I am meeting with him July 21st! I was wondering if you guys think it's a good idea for me to start seeing some specialist or doing some tests he may refer to me to beforehand to get the ball rolling and to have it in place when I meet him, e.g sleep studies and having an  ECG done etc. :) thank you

Good morning! I am pre op surgery booked for September  2nd start opti August 12 so anything I say is according to my experience so far...ECG I had one for the nurse in the beginning November 2014 and a second was done right in Dr glazers office February 19, 2014 and will have another at PATTS augas they are only good for 30 days. If you snore, wake up with a headache and or are tired during the  daytime  you may want to get your name on a list for a sleep study in the mean time but as for anything else it will depend on your comorb's so your better to wait.

Most will probably say a sleep apnea test.  The best advise I can give is to use your weight to learn about the whys of your weight, head issues you may have and to start to change your habits.  Time can be your best friend for this.  It's hard down the line.  You'll be living with surgery forever, embrace the time and use it for preparing.  Don't set a date in your head.  That will just frustrate you.

Good luck!

Hi Freshlila,

I just had my appointment with Dr Glazer on June 9th . I had thought the same and had a sleep study booked through my doctor . It is for tomorrow night actually , up here in Barrie . I have to say he didnt seem to pleased that I had went and booked it . He seemed a little put out in fact . And just said " oh well , if they say you have apnea , bring your machine to surgery " !!  As far as wait times , I overheard his receptionist book someone else a sleep study in Markham , she said it would be in a week or two . So I guess it depends on where you live and what clinic you use . She said the one in Scarborough (? I think ) was booking like 3/4 months ahead !!! So dont go there ! Maybe call one nearest you and see how long it would take to get in . If you would get it and have results before your internist app, then go for it !

I had an ECG , stress test and holter all done on march 31st , through my own doctor as i was experiencing palpatations (all fine) he asked I have those faxed over to him . He did a small ecg while I was there too and said all was fine .

Do you have your Sw and Nut appointments booked ? Other than all that o dont think there is much else we can do to speed things up other than call for cancellations . Maybe try that ?

Hope all goes well for you dear , look forward to hearing about your journey

you may end up having tests that you don't need. Be patient (unless the wait is toooooooooo long). The process happens at the pace its supposed to.

Some things like your sleep test can be done early, once you get your original booking, you can try to go on a waiting list.  But it won't hurry the whole process up at all.  Other than the sleep test, you will need to wait to see what you need to get done.  Some have more, some have less.  You can try for waiting lists for cancelations for other appointments, but not all places have them.

Be patient and take the time to take everything in.  If you rush too much, you'll have times of information overload, and won't remember everything.

Not every one needs the same tests done.  I didn't have to have the sleep study but my sister did.  My bmi was higher than hers but I slept better than she did.  The Dr will tell you what you need, why use up valuable test time if you don't need to.  Be patient the time will fly by, it's hard for me to realize this week is 4 months post op for me.  I remember just starting the process like it was yesterday.

Good luck
