I'm not sure what phase you're in....is that liquid or pureed and when are you "supposed" to start the next phase?

I tried a few things a few days earlier than I was supposed to....but I chose carefully and proceeded with extreme caution. I can't offer more than tat since I'm not sure what phase your on etc.

As for vitamins, I have read people say they started taking non-chewables almost right away. Again, proceed with caution. I would start with a small vitamin like a Vit D and see how it sits, then go onto a medium...then your multi. Multi's can be huge though, so it might be a bit soon. 8-10 weeks I believe most or all of your inner ouchies are healed, so maybe wait until 8 weeks to try the multi. Good luck =)

I heard on Dr Oz  ( go figure) that those huge multi vitamins are best to break in half and to take half in morning and half in night....not sure why....

I am pre surgery just in the beginning stages of this journey and the vitamin issue. pill issue is one thing I am most concerned about....if our post surgery pouch is so tiny ...yikes...I currently take some BIG  pills and vitamins everyday...that will need to change...I also believe that it is vital we take our vitamins for the rest of our lives...

SO I am looking forward to seeing some of the responses to the vitamin question.

Good luck with the soup and oatmeal , hopefully you can move on to other things SOON...I hope you are seeing some results for all your efforts.

I just started puree, so I know your feels. I do warn against stopping the chewable multi too soon. I tried having my multi cut in half, so that I would have a half with lunch and a half with dinner. Sometimes I felt fine but twice I felt so nauseous from it. I went back to chewable.

One recommendation I can make is to get a non-cream soup (I got a Thai Chicken from President's Choice) and puree it. I know it's still soup, but it's a different feeling than a cream soup, somehow.

I am almost done with my 2 weeks out of hospital diet. I start the Purade diet on Thursday. I going to try and take my vitamins slowly... I'm ok with the chewable multivitamins but the calcium chewables are not that great. I really need a change in diet... It also doesn't help that my family is constantly ording food every night which has me hiding in my room. At this point I would probably kill for a piece of chicken. I jut have to hang in there. Thanks

Hmm, I got myself calcium chews, they're kind of like candy, so I don't mind them! I hear you about the needing a change. Seriously think about a non-cream soup. It helped me through the last days of full fluid.

Can you move to the next step? Sure, you can do anything you allow yourself to do. Should you? In my opinion, no. You are so soon out of surgery - this isn't the time to be pushing limits no matter how small they may seem to you. Eating changes and challenges are now a part of life. To be successful now and in the long term it's important to follow the "rules", plain and simple.

I can 99.9% guarantee you that you will not die from another bowl of soup.

Back in the 1970's there was this weird crazy soap opera called Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman.  Mary Hartman made chicken soup for a friend who had a bad cold and the friend passed out while eating the chicken soup and drowned in the bowl.
