Another Down and More to go!!
Today was a great day! I had my 2nd official appointment at the Guelph Clinic! Today I met the Dietitian Janine that will be following me and I was suppose to have a different Social Worker but mine was sick so I was able to see Jodie! She was at my Orientation!! They are both extremely nice and easy to talk too (Along with the Nurse Heather who I met last week!)
I started with the dietitian and I had so many questions!! She was really able to help me figure out the portion sizes, calorie info.. and even if a snack says low cal it isn't always!! One little snack she showed me had a total of 17g of sugar!! I had no idea what was just over 4 tsp of sugar!! Yuck! I had no idea!! She gave me plenty of sheets and ideas for snacks and quick meals. She gave me the Food Guide and a neat little Chart that goes on the fridge that can help you keep track of what you are eating!! She also mentioned a site called MyFitnessPal that I am going to look into tomorrow! Its just too late now (12:48am). I came out of the appointment with the dietitian very optimistic and excited for all the things I learned in such a short period of time!!
My meeting with the Social Worker was the one I was very nervous about.. I can be very emotional when talking about things that have been hard in my life! We spoke about the abusive relationship I was in when I got pregnant with my daughter, my daughter's health problems, my health problems, the divorce of my parents that I always thought was my fault and the death of my Dad 4 months having having my daughter. It was an emotional talk but she was able to get to know me and my Mom came with me for support and had mentioned that she has noticed that since I started the Weight Loss Surgery process she has seen me happier and looking forward to my future! I am only 32 yrs old and felt like this is how I would be for the rest of my life, alone, sick and stuck in a rut!
My next appointment with the Nurse, Dietitian and Social worker is on June 24th!! I can't weight! In the meantime, I am going to try and lose some weight, eat healthier and make sure I don't skip meals etc. I also get nervous being out alone so I found a DVD that is like a walking DVD with Leslie Sansone! Its great she does a fast power mile and I can work with her in my own home! No one will see me, or see that I need to stop and break for a minute etc. I hope this helps me out! And when my daughter is in bed I may try her Dancing wii games.. I just don't know if I am even comfortable doing that on my own! I just feel so awkward!
I hope that my appointments fly by and surgery is knocking on my door very soon! I can't wait to be the person I use to be!
