anyone out there know if someone has celiac disease, if they can have the RYN surgery...it is a gluten intolerance, which eventually makes it impossible to  absorb vitamins.

YAAA  Is that why you are getting the sleeve Sassy75 instead of the RYN?

Well, honestly, it really depends on who tells you and what you read. There are conflicting guidelines in terms to which would be better suited for an individual with Celiac. Personally, I would prefer being able to have scopes in the future as celiac has higher chance of gut cancers.... I don't want anything by-passed so I have requested the sleeve due to this and have been approved. I have heard of others having the RNY however the supplements are increased as they already have malabsorption issues prior to surgery. Are you celiac?? Please say yes!! Lol

If a person with true celiac disease avoids gluten, they minimize the inflammation in their intestines, and are not high-risk for vitamin or mineral malabsorption. I've seen sleeves for Crohns/Colitis but not always for celiac.
