Max Carbs?
I know there is a minimum amount of protein everyone needs to get each day but is there a maximum amount of carbs we should be trying to stick to?
Thanks!

I've seen various numbers, from 20gm to 60gm, to more. A lot of people recommend not worrying about it too much, and just avoiding the "white carbs" i.e. white rice, potatoes, white bread, etc. I imagine that for the first while, you're getting most of your carbs from veggies anyways, with little to no room left for anything else if you ate protein first.

Im sure you will find that post-sugery, you will be UNABLE to eat bread pasta rice (white refined carbs) They tend to not go down too well. What I mean is they clog up your throat, and are difficult to get down, so much so that you lose any desire to eat them. NOW, with that said, white bread is easy to eat if it is dry and toasted, crackers, melba, anything crunchy and dry. I know it makes no sense but that is the way it is. You will find that you simply dont crave or want them anymore...what a blessing this surgery has been. You will be craving and eating things that mother nature intended ie: fresh fruit (which I never ate before) All the best to you on your journey. There is a carb limit for diabetics (me) wheras you consume no more than 15g per snack and 45g each meal of unrefined complex carbs
Thank you, I just know that even the protein shakes have carbs and just wondered if there was a max.

Remember to check the sugar content as well as carb content of protein shakes as some really are trashy sugar laden souped up drinks masquarading as a protein drink. Weider makes a good one, called daily protein and fiber, it is light tasting and not shake like. For a shake like one I use independant's brand exact
Even though the bariatric centres will never tell you this, carbs matter. A lot.
Have a lot to lose and want to get to goal? Go low carb. Extreme low carbers do 50 grams or so. For me, that's a little extreme and I try and do 50-70 when I'm in losing mode. When I double my protein to carb ratio, the weight comes off even now at almost 8 years out. And yes, my brain fuctions quite well....
No one told me about carbs. Others lost way faster than me. I had to fight for every single pound. I wish I'd know this.

I keep my carbs to under 40 grams per day. It seems to work well when balanced with at least 80 grams of protein per day. These are the numbers that work for me :)
