Ready to give up

I dont know what to think anymore, been to my dr's office once a month in jan and feb and again today asked if he got a confirmation of my referral he said he has received nothing, told me to wait another month as it takes along time up to a year, i said no way im not waiting, i know some people that have gotten their orientation letters already from jan, i asked if he has had issues with his fax machine he said yes he has, and as a matter of fact today the fax machine was acting up real bad, so he gives me the referral and tells me to go fax it from somewhere, so now im thinking  maybe there was an issue with the information he wrote on the side of the referral in pen or maybe the form wasnt filled out correctly and maybe i havent been accepted or if its just they have not received the fax at all.....i had called hrrh twice to check and see if they received anything and both times they hung up on me...im just so frustrated, im living in so much pain at night with very little sleep due to my severe degenerative disc disease and hip issues and my mobility so limited im just ready to give up now, i chose to go with the bariatric surgery instead of the back, neck and hip surgery as it was a better choice for me at this time of my life but its not looking that way for me for some reason, sorry for venting... just needing to get off my chest :(  Maybe its just not meant to be for me

if you give up, you will hurt no one but yourself. I've waited since end of August, only to find out this week that I might have surgery end of July.....maybe.... I've seen people being referred after me who already had  surgeries. I got so pissed, I booked a surgery in Mexico for April. Do what you got to do, good luck

how long did it take for you to find out they received your referral

less than 2 weeks. I called two days after my doctor faxed it and they said it should take about a week. I called back a week later and got app for orientation

side note - hrrh never hanged up on me. They never pick up in the morning but always after lunch, try calling after 1-2 pm

Hi, When people get surgery before you after being referred after you, they could be worse off than you. Their BMI could be higher, their lives could be in danger ect. Please don't assume that they are doing it on purpose. Not trying to sound rude but there is always a reason why people get in before others.

You shouldnt have to wait any more than a week, 2 at the outside for a confirmation. Call the clinic again, even if you have to be sneeky and ask for the dietician or sw or nurse. Then at least you have someone who actually cares not a receptionist. I found that there are a couple at HRRH that obviously dont get paid well or hate their job, and they will put people on hold and then have a chit chat with a co-worker. Ive been cut off too, I think it is by accident. KEEP TRYING. I have also seen the sw, nurse, dietician come out to the front reception to check appts and other matters.

It is not the clinic you need to contact. Contact the Bariatric registry. It all starts there. The referrals go from there to the hospitals

you are 100% correct, then you are sorted via postal code, then your given a hospital, which will hold the info session.. then my advice is correct. Man it wasnt that long ago that I went through, sorry for jumping the gun on you
