Rheumatoid Arthritis and Surgery

Hi Everyone, I am newly referred for surgery. Waiting to hear back that my referral went through. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and I was just wondering if anyone who has RA has had the VSG or RNY and have noticed a great difference in their RA with the surgery. I have so much pain in my joints and being overweight isn't helping.

Can anyone also give me any sort of indication as to the wait time for referral to surgery date at St.Joes in Hamilton Ont?

I don't have Rheumatoid Arthritis, but I do have Psoriatic Arthritis (heredity + environment are both working against me!). I had a VSG in Ottawa in early February. The surgeon agreed to a VSG based on my rheumatologist's recommendations as I am NSAID dependent for relief of the arthritis... I've tried other non-NSAID medications and they did not do the job for me. So this was my best option. 

I cannot comment on the timeline question being in Ottawa, but I hear that St. Joe's is faster than here. Good luck!
