so confused about iron

I just wanted to add ... that many of us know Leona, in real life, as well. 

She works out of Humber and is one of the ONTrcC Nurses in Ont (there are only 27- got that info from literature I have).

 

She would never steer anyone in the wrong direction. 

BELOW GOAL        Happily maintaining 4.5 years out!!   Life is GREAT!!!  Had my plastic surgery!

I was told to take Proferrin from the Guelph clinic, after 6 months I have to take it twice a day. Make sure you take vitamin C to absorb it better and I use Natural Calm to add the magnesium to help BMs

Did you get blood test to show that your iron is low? 

Prior to surgery I always had low iron due to my disease well I started using prenatal vitamins twice a day and since surgery a year ago have not had a issue with m iron.

Referral- March 2012, Letter April 19, Orientation TWH- June 6, NP - July 3, Sleep Apena test July 16, Internist and SW  - July 17, Nutritional class - July 23, Dietician appt. July 30th, Psych-Social appt - Aug 20th. Follow up with doctor sleep apena Aug. 28th  Surgeons appt. - Dec. 14th Dr. Jackson. Surgery date - Feb 12 2013 - VSG

I did get a blood test, yes. I have a family history of anemia in a lot of the women on my mom's side, so they've been monitoring my levels pretty closely. I guess the prenatal vitamins aren't enough! 

Referral May 2013 / orientation at TWH June 27 / nurse practitioner July 3 / social worker August 19 / nutrition class August 26 / nutritionist August 30 / psychologist September 3 / meet surgeon (Dr. Penner) September 20 / PATTS October 10 / Surgery October 18 2013!

Katie, I took Ferrous Gluconate and i found that it gave me loose stools.  I got it from my pharmacist and i was given no specific times to take it.  I was on 300mg 3 times perday.  Breakfast, supper and bedtime.  Hope tyhid helps.c
