New to OH ...

Hi all, 

im new to OH, but have been following posts for a couple months but only made an account today. I was reffered by Dr Wharton and my neurologist Dec 6/13 and had my orientation yesterday Feb 24/14 at HRRH. Really looking forward to getting my surgeons appt and eventually my surgery date. Lookin for support other than family since some of them are still on the fence where as I have already made up my mind. Anyway looking forward to hearing from anyone.

I have found out a lot from this site, I have bariatricpal but not many canadians on there and most go out of country to do surgery.

i see you had surgery with dr Hagen im hoping for him too. Hes experienced and has great reviews. Im waiting for my surgeons appt now.

Welcome to OH, the people here are FANTABULOUS!!!!! I'm learning alot as I read constantly, am looking to have a revision from a previous stomach stapling and was nervous but these guys made my life simpler and more tranquil....

Yes it has made me more calm about things to, but having a hard time getting my family to understand. They're stuck on how this has to be for the rest of my life and i cant have this or that. Them questioning me over and over is not helping me at all. Anybody have advice about this? Any long timers wana share how it has been living with the decision after 5 years ? 

There are always going to be others who don't understand but in the end, it is your life and you need to do what is good for you, mentally, physically, spiritually and emotionally.  You will be able to enjoy foods, just in rational portions and so what, you might not be able to indulge in a few things but you will deal with it and overcome it.  Willpower is another big part of the program.  There are so many great shared recipes on the site which I never thought would be possible, found one most recently by another blogger who sent the link http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.ca/

It's our journey and once they see the change in you and your life style they will probably end up supporting you, if not, then that is their loss.

Unfortunately we can't please everyone all of the time but as I said, it has to be for you, stop worrying about others, there will always be negativity....just shine my friend, shine!
