Stomach Stapling to RNY or other

Hi everyone

Just me again.  More questions, sorry.

To summarize it all up, I had my stomach stapled back in the early 1990's at St Josephs Hospital, Toronto.  Shortly afterwards, my doctor lost his license (not due to surgery).  I lost some weight but not what was expected and over time, well I gained it back plus some.  I have health issues now and constantly find that getting out of bed daily is becoming a battle.  I feel I have failed somewhere along the way.  The education that is out there now, was not available back then.

Recently out of desperation and concern for my health, I opened up to my family doctor who knows about my struggle.  He was quite sympathetic and suggested I see Dr. Hagan (HRRH).  My appointment is scheduled for Thursday March 6th.  I know from a previous scope done a year ago that my pouch had stretched and was told my stomach was about the same size as a normal stomach.

I am nervous and worried that Dr Hagan might say he cannot help me with a revision but, I will try to remain positive.

I was wondering, if anyone else out there in OH has ever had stomach stapling and then a revision.  If so, what kind of revision?  Did it make a difference?  Was the process of losing weight slower than the first time?  Would you do it again?  Were there any complications?

Any information would be appreciated.

Really hope there is hope for me at the end of this battle.

Hi, I had my stomach stappled in 94 at Scarborough Grace, I am now waiting to have a revision (RNY) with Dr. Klein.

I lost almost 100 lbs back then and regained it back when I was pregnant with my second son ( born in 99). I have servere acid reflux and been suffering with this for the last 15 years.  To this day it's a hit or miss with foods, one day I can have it another day I am throwing it up.

I wish you luck, you will be in good hands with Dr. Hagen, my sister had her surgery (sleeve) January of this year.

Thanks Timbit, the information helps.

I can't stand the Acid Reflux, tires me out at times that I can't move because I end up throwing up, I too have been living this way since the surgery back in the 90's.  Really looking forward to my appointment.

Do you have your appointment for surgery yet?

Hi Dolce, I am on a waiting list right now, but I have been through everything I needed to go through to get to where I am.

Hoping I will get a date soon, can't wait to stop taking my meds for the acid reflux.

Just waiting for my turn to sit on the bench.....lol
