Exhausted all of the time

Hi Everyone,

Im 6 mths out, doing well overall - get all the vitamins, water, protein, but I continue to be utterly exhausted all of the time.

I had no comorbidities, now I have very low blood pressure and some ulcers. I've asked about both to my GP and clinic and they said they don't do anything for low blood pressure.

I train a fair bit for triathlons so I know that can be tiring but sometimes I skip training to sleep - which is about 12 hrs a day.

Anyone have any insight? I'm gonna ask again next week but I need to get back into the world/work and I can't even imagine it at this point. Thanks!

Have you tried upping your calories to make up for the deficit that training creates? Other than that I'm not too sure, hopefully someone else will have some more suggestions! I hope you get it figured out, nothing worse than that pervasive exhaustion!

Thanks Katie. That could be it - I hit 1000 everyday - I feel like should hit more but I now have this fear of going overboard - I know I'm going to get a lecture from my team about it. Will try though, thanks girl!

Make sure you are getting enough water.  When you work out, you may not realize how much extra you need.  A couple things you can check (well, get your doc to check) is your iron levels and your thyroid levels.

As for low blood pressure, extra water might help with that.  Also, some complex carbs in your diet may help (I had light headedness while working out which i manage by taking breaks, but was told I might need to drink some electrolights, and make sure I had some complex carbs in my diet).  If your bloodwork checks out, contact your NUT and go over your diet with him/her.  Maybe you are missing some other nutrients.

I also suffer from low blood pressure and it sucks.  My doctor suggested I drink a coffee in the morning for the caffine!  I also take a caffine pill before I leave for work (I work 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.). If I don't, I can barely function!  So, my short answer is take caffine pills.  Otherwise, I don't know what else to do since I am so tired also.

Hi Chelsea,

Have you had your iron levels checked?  How much iron are you taking?  I find that the iron in a multivitamin is not enough for me.  I take Proferrin 3 times per day, and then Carbonyl iron in the morning as well.  All of this and my iron levels are still on the lower side of normal.

Hopefully you can figure out what works for you soon!

Julia
