Time to fess!!!
I am on day 13 today and I haven't cheated once. I actually feel pretty amazing. In my opinion if you can't do the amount of weeks your suppose to be on the Opti without cheating then the chances of being successful with the surgery isn't very good. I am not saying you will fail, just shows the willpower isn't there. I guess it all depends on how bad you want it. Failure isn't an option for me....I've done it enough in the past. That old life is over now.
My surgery is in two days, I have 6 shakes left to drink....bring it on!!
I hope I dont offend. Just my opinion as I am travelling the same path you are at this moment.
Good luck to you.
Hi,
I am not going to say I made it through free and clear. I did "cheat" . Not proud of it, but hey, I'm not perfect.
I do not condone it, and it was really early in my 3 weeks, following that, no cheats like broth or veggies or anything, jus****er and opti.
I have to say, the first few days were tough, but by then end of it, it just becomes what you do.
Good Luck.
It's really amazing how different surgeons/hospitals have such different pre-op and post-op plans. The opti plan seems really, really difficult. My program only calls for two days of clear liquids prior to surgery. What's a "cheat" on one plan, isn't on another.
I give you folks on Opti a lot of credit.
Hi, I did have a cheat while on Opti, I was travelling for work and my opti was in my luggage and we ended up delayed so I was starving, I went and found something with no carb, in my case in was a meatball and few cucumbers. I needed to get something in me and tried my best to make sure it was as good as possible. I told my doctor about it and it didn't phase her, she said it happens and we just have to try to make sure it doesn't happen too much, she said the good thing is I got back on my opti and the rest of my 3 weeks were good. Look we are all human and if you are going into it thinking about cheating you are setting yourself up for failure but cheating will happen in life and it's how you react to it that is important. When healthy people have a cheat meal they don't guilt themselves and throw their hands in the air and say that's it I uined my diet its all over, no they just move on from it like it is nothing, to me I have learned to try and do that. I am 10 months out and far from perfect, I have had some fast food and junk but unlilke before I just try to make the rest of the day about good choices. Opti is hard because it is all liquid and I just wanted to chew something lol, call your doctor they might allow you to have a little bit of cucumber. Only one way to know. Don't feel guilty about having those thoughts and if you did eat a piece just pick yourself up and move on from it. Making others feel like if you can't do this you will fail after surgery to me is not true (my opinion only) success for this journey is going to be one step at a time, you will need support around you all the time. We all screw up, we are human, just remember that this is all new for everyone and we can only do our best. I am going back to see the nurse and behavior therapist to try and help me get back on track and be successful, don't be afraid to ask for the help when you need it. Good luck.
