Yesterday I started to have some mild upper abdominal pain just above my belly button. I should mention my antacid prescription jusr expired it was for 3 months. This started a few days after my last dose. I feel a constant burning like heartburn. I called TWH. No one has called me back yet. Has anyone else had a similar experience?

I have been having burning in my upper chest. They doubled my Prevacid (once in the morning, once at night). My surgeon has you take it for 6 months post op. I would call your family dr and get back on the prevacid if you can. Also avoid coffee or anything citrus or acidy...tomato sauce etc. Call your surgeon's office and leave a message and let him know. In the meantime try over the counter, tums etc to get by. If it gets worse...severe nausea, vomiting etc...I would go to the ER, you don't want to get dehydrated. Hope you feel better soon =(

I went to my pharmacy and they advanced me some pills without a prescription. After 30 minutes of taking it I felt much better. I'm not sure why my prescription was only 3 months I will ask for it to be for 6 months. I will be seeing my family doctor tomorrow. Thanks for the reply I hope to be back to myself soon

Hi Cleidy........ mine was 3 months as well from TWH and I asked (because I already had acid reflux prior to surgery and was on a different medication) they said if I needed it longer my Family Doctor would need to prescribe... I saw him 2 weeks ago and he gave me another 3 months and will see me again then to review.

Hi Kerry, I just got a call from TWH and they are refilling my prescription, they also ordered me to have a scope to make sure i am not developing an ulcer. Lets see how this goes, i hope i don't have an ulcer.

Thanks for the reply, and congrats on your weight loss.!

I was on Prevacin  for 6 months and I felt sicker than ever lost  my voice no energy , slept most of the day .  It is only after I changed my acid reflux treatment that I became normal .  I needed more acid not less. Taking 2 tsp of Apple cider vinegar and one table  spoon of honey with  half of cup warm water first thing in the morning that I felt normal again . Prevacin  causes malabsorption   of vitamins especially calcium .  It is acid blocker  for me it was deadly  I no longer have issue with tight chest  fatigue or yeast in digestive tract. The vinegar nutralizes the acid reflux . Please try this simple remedy . It just might help !,,

I am 5 years post-op and my pain started middle left hand side, about 5 inches from my belly button but my several bouts were very painful and then over a years time it was increasing to where for 3 weeks all I could eat wast toast and soup...I had an endoscopy and it revealed an ulcer.  I have never taken any antacids, never had heartburn.

So my caution would be to anyone who has had bariatric surgery is watch the coffee~!!  I know that coffee is not entirely to blame..but who knows.

Hope you can ease your pain quickly.

prior to surgery 323lbs....4 years post-op maintaining between 108- 114 lb loss.

life is AMAZING when you continue on the right path~!.  Use your surgeons gift to the fullest~!

I have been having the same problem, they first thought was my gallbadder ultrasound determined it was not. So my surgeon did a new scope I have an ulcer in my pouch and it's been 6 months since my surgery. I am on now liquid meds 4 times a day and a new stomach pill 2 x a day it's only been 2 weeks out with meds.
