He bases his assessment on much more than your responses to questions. it's to keep you safe, just keep that in mind. Also, if you call the sleep clinic and ask if there is a waiting list you could go on

Good luck

Oh my! The exact same thing happened to me!  I was so frustrated! It was the first appointment that my husband hadn't been able to come to and I sat in the parking lot for over 30 minutes crying then getting myself together so I could drive! So now I'm waiting for that appointment too and then a f/u with Dr. Glazer in mid February. Keep your chin up! We are moving in the right direction....just not as fast as we want!

I was upset about needing a sleep study also....never in a million years thought I'd have sleep apnea. I am so glad I went!! I was floored when Dr Hawa (who is awesome BTW) told me how many times I stopped breathing in the middle of the night! My oxygen levels fell dangerously low, and I was not getting any real REM sleep! I have a friend who's sister died in her sleep at 42 due to undiagnosed sleep apnea, so I am extremely glad I found out. They were very quick at booking my appts, and once I got my machine, I couldn't believe the difference. No waking 5+ times to go to the bathroom, no dry mouth and coughing, no tossing, no turning......I wake up feeling rested!!! Best of all, most obese people with sleep apnea are cured once the weight is gone! Good luick

I imagine the follow up appt would be to go over your results? The clinic just does the testing and then the Dr goes over the results. Even if you don't have apnea, I found it intersting to know my sleep patterns/amount of dreams/ REM's ect. Trust me, the time it takes to do everything will help prepare you mentally for the surgery. It's a long process, and seems unnecessary at times, but in the long run you'll be glad you did it all. Good luck!

You will want to get used to appointments...I had 23 pre-surgery.

Kingston is now telling people a sleep test is mandatory - I guess they were finding too many people with issues further down the line.

I thought the same thing and they didn't send me for a sleep study and during/after surgery my oxygen levels went really low.  Better to be safe than sorry!
