Picking up Opti Today!
Things are moving right along! I'm stopping this afternoon at Ottawa's WMC to pick up my Opti; I start Opti on Monday and that excites me, but also makes me a little nervous as it means that surgery is getting closer!
For those of you who have done the Opti, did you prefer the chocolate or vanilla? I can ask for a mix of both but I've no idea what to do! Half and half? One-third and two-thirds? I know I can add flavours to the vanilla, but what can you do with the chocolate other than add coffee (which I don't like)? Advice? What did you do when it came time to get your Opti?

I had picked up all Chocolate, but I didn't know about adding flavors to it, and was worried how artificial the vanilla would be. But apparently it's not too bad. If you do get all vanilla and want chocolate, you could add cocoa powder to it. As for adding flavors to the chocolate, I'm not sure what syrups there are, or what flavors you like. And you can add extracts as well if you don't have syrups. But flavors that you could add to chocolate are: mint, orange, cherry (chocolate covered cherries), peanut butter, almond, caramel. I didn't try any of these, so they could be a flop if you try them. But they are suggestions. Part of my suggestions are inspired by boxes of chocolates. So not sure how drinkable they would be.
Good luck, just remember the first few days are the hardest. But it will all be worth it!

GREAT ideas! Thank you.
I have caramel and raspberry syrups already. Those would probably be decent with both the chocolate and vanilla. I hear great things about the orange flavoured syrups too. Must try to get some when I'm in the USA next week. Keeping fingers crossed I get through it with little trouble.

I am on Day 2 of opti as we speak. i prefer the chocolate but i have discovered a sugar free pumpkin pie spice syrup that is divine in the vanilla. some of them go down ok and others i have to force. not for a physcial reason, but more because i have reached my wall

I am not out of Ottawa, I am out of Humber River, but I was given half chocolate, half vanilla. I didn't have a choice, lol.
As for flavours, I just added crystal light to mine. Lots of different flavours. The raspberry ice is very good with vanilla. There is a tangerine flavour that goes nicely with the chocolate. I tried to add some decaf instant coffee to my chocolate shake, but it was gross to me. I didn't like it.
Crystal Light... gotcha. I'll add that to my list. I've been using Mio and various other liquid SF flavourings lately but maybe a few packets of Crystal Light would be a good idea as well. Much appreciated!

I did half and half. I found sugar free syrups made it too sweet. I flavoured the chocolate with orange, almond, coconut, banana and mint baking extracts. In the vanilla I used orange, coconut, banana and root beer extracts. I enjoyed my opti's shaken with ice.

Personally I liked the opti on its oun. I think we all have worried about what to ADD IN (as lil cheats ) just to get away with having more. Its all in the mindset. Oh I'll add this becauce its allowed and Ill add that too, and before you know it there is a stew. Just try and not overthink the opti and enjoy it. It is very filling, I couldnt drink all of mine so my son thoroughly enjoyed them while I was recovering from surgery. Then he asked if we could buy more lol
I am currently on opti and I have both. When I make my vanilla one I add cinnamon, and it is good. Reminds me of my French toast. When I make choc I add a small spoon of cocoa powder and some peppermint extract, tastes like a peppermint paddy! Oh, I add ice to them too and it make them colder and possibly thicker.
