Newbie...St Joseph's Hamilton Info Please!

had my RNY at St. Joe's by Dr. Hong as well.

from referral to surgery date was about 13mos. you will need to have an abdonimal ultrasound, gastroscopy, some sleep tests and perhaps have your gall bladder out, if you havn't already. you also have to see a social worker and the nutritionist before meeting the internist and the surgeon.

they do have a monthly support group, but i've never gone. im sure you could get the info just by calling the centre.

i always wait a long time for my appt when i get there. so come prepared with water and a book!

you will also have to do OPTI pre-surgery, and the doc will give you the script when you meet him. you can buy it from the pharmacy in the hospital, which is best because i tried my local pharmacy and they said they were not able to get it in.

oh and i agree with the previous post about bringing your own test results to your appointments.

get copies ASAP and take them with you just in case the hospital doesn't have them yet. ie. ultrasound.
