Thyroid Hormones
Has anyone else had a problem with very big fluctuations in their TSH? Mine seems to be going all over the place and my family doctor is puzzled. I know the weight loss can be part of the reason but i wasn't sure for such big fluctuations. My levels most recently have gone from 9 to 0.08. It has been doing this for a while but i did have surgery about 6 1/2 weeks ago and i was losing before that. The doc doesn't know what to do with my medication at this point. ( I was given the VSG so there would be no malabsorption)
I also take synthroid and have had a sleeve. I have gone from 175 to 125 in dosage, I figure due to the weight reduction. Perhaps you might consider when you are taking your synthroid, remember it reacts differently with all the stuff we need to take, like PPI's (prevacid), calcium etc. I have taken mine in the middle of the night for years, I just keep it in a little container at my bedside and throw it in my mouth in the middle of the night, don't even wake up anymore really, primarily because it needs to be taken on it's own.
I am lucky as all my medications are the same or less than they were after surgery. I am not taking calcium., etc, just a prenatal vitamin. i am off my iron as well so that shouldn't be a problem. I have asked my pharmacist to check it out just in case so he is going to do some research on it for me. Thanks for the input :)
I'm with you!!! My TSH was 8 At 3 months and 13 at 6 months. My synthroid dosage has been increased from 175mcg to 200mcg. I finally started taking the synthroid at night before I go to bed without any other meds. I had been taking it in the morning about an hour before any supliments but it just didn't work. My latest TSH is 0.01 so it's working!
