Good news, bad news...
Well I got a call from my doctors office today and they told me that after the urgent MRI scan on my liver the other day, the good news it that the lesions were nothing to worry about and my liver has gone back to normal and is functioning well. The bad news is that now I have developed gallstones. I hope I don't have to have surgery straight away as I'm not prepared to go back to the operating room soon after my rny.
Yeah that's the thing with low fat - the gallbladder doesn't get the same workout as it once did! It needs to move that bile out on a regular basis to stay clean and free of stones.
You can live with the stones as long as they don't become lodged in the opening to the duodenum. Sometimes they can kinda block the opening and you'll get an attack, and then they move away again and it'll subside. Too bad they didn't know about your stones beforehand - maybe they would have considered taking it out??
all the best!
I just hope this is the case and I can live without having surgery for a long time. I asked the surgeon before I had the surgery if he removed the gallbladder as part of his routine and he told me no, especially as I had no gallstones in my pre-op ultrasound. I'm gonna try and keep this sucker in for as long as possible, the only problem is that I constantly have pain in that area. I'm just surprised I developed them this quick after only a 64lbs weight loss. Thanks.
