I'm almost 4 months out and finally ate out (very small portions) this week. Eat the soup. Feel safe and feel well. Tomorrow is ok to fix the lack of protein just this once.

I ended up with the quesadilla and luckily it went down well. But if in doubt I will always defer to soup!

Thanks :)

Hey Katie my surgitwin!

I just had a two  day training and I coped by packing my own snacks and I've gone to family dinners where I just ate less than others. But when I've gone out to dinner I just order a bigger meal and eat what I can. If I vomit, I find it very discrete (like I know I will and have time to get to the bathroom and it's really more like bringing up my food than a flu-like vomiting). When I ate at a training I was at I stuck to a small portion of soup and two half sandwiches. Kelsey's has never been a favourite place to eat the food is all high in fat and sodium and not chef material but formulaic, precooked stuff that is warmed on the grill or whatever. I'd suggest a change of venue or if I had to go, I'd order one of the bigger salads like the grilled beets and goat cheese salad or the Sanoma Valley Salad and a take out container. I sympathize with you because it is a little awkward. Hope you enjoy your friends company!

Surgitwin! Glad to hear you have been surviving doing things like training and family dinners! I think I am afraid of not having enough time to get to the bathroom if I feel something is stuck or coming back up - the last time I threw up from stuck chicken it was real gagging/vomiting and I almost threw up in my hand, trying to keep it off the carpet. (Sorry for the TMI!) otherwise I haven't had any throwing up issues. So glad you've been able to do it discreetly when you need to!

I am not a fan of Kelsey's either - any of those roadhouse style restaurants don't do much for me. I would have chosen a smaller restaurant that has an actual chef, but unfortunately I wasn't in control of where we went as my friend brought her 4 year old and we needed somewhere noisy with a predictable menu. But next time it will be my pick and I can suggest something better.

Thanks for the advice! I haven't tried beets yet, hated them pre-op but perhaps my tastes have changed ;)
