I am sure you can buy various whey protein that is low carb, you also need to read labels and make sure the sugars/fructose etc are no more than 6mg/serving.
I use IsoPro un-flavoured low carb whey.....I had tried literally dozens and couldn't find something that even remotely tasted better than sawdust that smelled like bunny poo.
I settled on the Un-flavoured of this brand asat almost 5 yrs post-op I can still drink it when necessary and I "doctor" it with SG syrups, a small banana and I also put it in a cup that has a lid and there is less smell to it
There are a lot of chocolate flavoured brands out there I do drink one from Bariatric advantage from time to time...
just remember NOT to double scoop protein, because if a protein powder gives you ex. 20/grams/per serving...and you double scoop THINKING you are now getting in 40grams (you;re not), because your body can only absorb (approx) 20-26/grams at a time and the rest is flushed out of your system, meaning you have just wasted that extra scoop and your $$$.
GNC will allow you to return ANY product you are not happy with..just a piece of advice, don;t go in telling them that you have had bariatric surgery, because I have read from other posters on this board that they try to steer you towards higher costing proteins, when it's NOT necessary..you just want something lowcarb, and low sugars...you can always ask if they have any samples or smaller sizes, until you find the one you actually will use.
IN the beginning I used at least close to 2 dozen varities, and ended up on protein bullets which became very expensive.
all the best
prior to surgery 323lbs....4 years post-op maintaining between 108- 114 lb loss.
life is AMAZING when you continue on the right path~!. Use your surgeons gift to the fullest~!

PATTS stands for Pre-Admission Teaching and Testing. It's done about a week before surgery. From what I've been told it takes about 3 hours and includes blood work, an ECG, and a meeting with the anesthesiologist.
When I got my surgery date I was given a package of forms etc that tells you everything you need to bring to the appointment, such as all your meds and vitamins. One of the forms needs to be filled out by your family doctor no more than 30 days prior to the PATT appointment.
