Sore knees and no meds, ideas?
I'm on my count down to sugery. Dr Glazor told me to stop taking meds I take to make my knees pain and discomfort a week before surgery. I have surgery on Tuesday. How do I keep doing stuff to with my knees killing me. God. How do people w chronic knee pain do it after surgery. I know once the weight comes off it will be easier. But what about the in between time? Suggestions please?

I've had issues with my knees for years (some arthritis, plus the patella tends to slip to the side and grind**** elevation, and seeing a physiotherapist for ideas on stretches to strengthen the muscles around the area all helped. Not that the pain goes away completely, but it's bearable.
Can I ask where you are in your weight lost surgery?
I have 250lbs to lose my goal.
I don't know if I will be able to walk by Monday. My knees hurt so bad.

I'm pre-op, but have been cleared and am just waiting for the post-op nutrition class and meeting with the surgeon. At my highest, I weighed 316 pounds. It's been slow, 'cause I was having knee issues and tore some lumbar fibres in my back last fall, but with the help of a personal trainer, I'm down to 265. Ice, physiotherapy, massage therapy, and chiropractic care have all helped at various points, but ice and Tylenol have been reliable aids at all points :P
Thank you. Don't have braces. Could get fitted any good cauSe of my size. Was embarrassed to go elsewhere. Maybe I can use tensor bandages on them?

Tensor might help. You can also now buy A535 that doesn't have nsaids in them. I think it has Arnica instead, which is a natural anti-inflammatory. I had to take Arnica pills before my tummy tuck to help keep the swelling down so it must not thin the blood since I was cut hip to hip and it was the PS that recommended them to me.
Thank you! I'm thrilled to know I can use A535. I think with that. Massage, ice , Tylenol everything else I work work thro it. God willing til the weight start coming off

Just make sure you get the A535 with Arnica. It might be called natural source or something like that. Regular A535 has nsaids so avoid that one.
ETA: Your hips and knees will likely be a lot more sore as the weight comes off for the first few months. I was almost crippled feeling and it's because the body has to learn to re-adjust itself and I was in far more pain than I was pre-op.
