still looking for left over Opti....
My friend (receiving Worker's Compensation) is in the approval process for WLS. She won't have any coverage for her meds, vitamins or Optifast. I told her I'd put out a note here because sometimes people have a wee bit leftover.
Please let me know if you do and I will gladly make a pickup for her!
Thanks ever so much.

Hi, with all due respect I'd like to comment on people mentioning that they cannot afford optifast.
It concerns me that on a long term basis the financial requirements will not be met which will result in less than optimal health looking forward tomthe life long post op process.
Vitamins/supplements, protein shakes (initially at least) and continued good protein sources/foods are essential to remain healthy long term after a malabsorptive surgery.
If someone cannot commit financially to the required items how will that affect their overall health.
I'm not referring to someone graciously offering to pass on a bit of left over optifast, participating in clothing exchanges etc.
Humber clearly presented the fact that there is a required lifetime financial committment, including vitamins, supplements, parking costs, etc.
The person who posted was looking for help not a scolding. If you think this was "with respect" .........think again.
She said her friend is receiving workers compensation which you receive when you have injured yourself at work ect. She might have started the process when she was still working. I am in no way defending people who are going threw this process and can't really afford it but if she is on workers comp then clearly she does in fact have a job & can financially provide once she is back to work.

I will defend anyone going thru this process who is low on money... Come on it happens to everyone at one time or another. Where there is a will there is a way. I would rather ask for help rather than die because of obesity. Please do not condemn this person just because her or his funds are low. Been there and done that and will probably be there again some day. Remember nothing is guaranteed. You could have a job tomorrow but be laid off the next day. It happens... then money ... poof gone.
AGREED!
