Wow, her questions were extremely invasive and unprofessional. She should stick to asking the questions she needs for your pre-op - she has no right to ask you any personal questions about your surgery and if it was worth it.

Exactly. And as much as i'm getting kudos for keeping my cool, well it's strictly because i'm at work, and I didn't need the office listening to me telling off someone about my surgery, lol.
Surgery March 23/2011. Completed three full marathons and two half marathons, two half Ironman distances. Completed my first Full Ironman distance (4 km swim, 180 km bike, 42.2 km (full marathon) run) in Muskoka August 30/2015. Next Ironman Lake Placid July 23/2017!

All the best on your surgery! Its strange but the "you coulda done this on your own" statements seem to come in fits and spurts! I have had three people say that to me in the last two days! Seriously! I immediately think, yeah, the almost four decades of being morbidly obese were about to come an end all on their own... NO! (If only I had tried the Atkins diet one more time.) And how did she know you were a smart-ass? JK

At first I kind of chuckled at your story and thought how good you were at keeping calm and reasonable with her.
but the more I thought about it the more I realized that she needs more thn an education in customer service.
She needs a slap upside the head.

I think if your life weren't already complicated enough, it would be a good thing to report her.
She needs to learn that a healthcare professional is exactly that - and there are rules. In fact the rules are very strict where I work. She could get in so much trouble if she lands with someone who is not as calm and forgiving as you ...
Her opinion, and whether she "gets it" or not is completely immaterial.
She MAY NOT speak to any client in that fashion. Period.
