OT: Okay friends...Tassimo or Keurig? Either have SF drinks that you know of?

Hubby would like a one cup coffee machine for Father's day but I'm not sure which one to get.  I have read many reviews and there are good and bad for both, so it's hard to make a decision.  Lots of people say there are more choices with the Keurig, but most of the reviews I read are American.  Is there still lots of choice as opposed to Tassimo here in Canada? Also, I woud probably end up using it on occasion and wonder if any of you have found SF flavoured drinks?  An I right that the Tassimo makes lates, while the Keurig doesn't?

Hmmm...so confused!

Keurig has a ton of variety.  They have SF apple cider for sure. And no you can't make a latte with the keurig itself but you can make the espresso in the Keurig and steam milk or microwave it(shudders at that thought).  Check out the brands that each uses and decide which one has the ones you like.  I don't like any of the brands for Tassimo so I'd never be happy with it.

Thanks Tracey.  Where do you typically by your Kcups?  Are they available at most grocery stores and Walmarts, etc...

They carry them at lots of places but we are spoiled that we have two places here in Timmins that carry every kcup available.  I am sure you have places like that down there too.  They carry all the kcups and the different syrups in these stores.

I say Keurig because they have a larger variety of caffeine-free coffees.  I have a Tasssimo and struggle with that a little.

Marny I love my Keurig mainly because it has more varieties to choose from. I also like the idea that it comes with this little gray cylinder with a wire mesh basket inside that enables you to use your own coffee, lose teas etc.

I really like the fact that it has many different cup sizes as well. I use the smallest size to make my instant oatmeal in the morning and it measures perfectly for this. Ok yes... I know its not suppose to be used to make oatmeal but hey, it works!

My vote is hands down for the Keurig any day.

I have a Keurig.  I like it, but I'm not into fancy coffees either.  I also like the Keurig that you can get the re-usable basket to make your fav flavour, where Tassimo doesn't have this option (that I know of).

I also use mine to make tea.  Since I use teabags and not loose leaf tea, i just put the teabag in where you put the K-Cup.  I just make sure that the tea is basically in the middle, and that it's not pulling from the sides.  Makes good enough tea for me.

Don't know about the Tassimo, but you can squeeze 13 oz of water into the keurig (fill to10 oz, then lift up the lever and you can add about 3 more),  Ilike big cups of coffee and tea.

Good luck choosing!

You should see if The Bay or some such store is having trials with them.  I tried both and found the tassimo a much hotter darker, heartier coffee, but I drink mine black and don't care for the fancy brews.  Just my opinion.  Good luck choosing!

I love my skinny lattes in my Tassimo. I agree there are more choices in the Keurig but I would not give up my Tassimo for anything.

We are a Tassimo family here lol.  My husband did all the research and made the decision.  Yes there are less varieties but in my opinion it makes a better cup of coffee.  My mother has a Keurig and no matter which one I make it always seems weak to me, and I don't even like a strong cup of coffee.  So my vote is for Tassimo :)
