having issues calculating protein powder

So I grabbed protein powder from the bulk barn and it is 93 grams of protein per 100 grams of powder.

So according to the internet 100 grams of podwer is 6.6666667 tables spoons which means each table spoon is 13.95 grams of protein. Does that make sense?

Seems like a lot of protein per table spoon. If anyone can assist that would be AWESOME

Thanks

The person who is great at figuring that stuff out is Tracey. Hopefully she sees this thread.

That sounds about right to me (15 grams per tbsp).   My unflavoured protein powder has 56 calories and 14g of protein per tablespoon, so it sounds like yours is about the same!

I use this on occasion.

It's almost gram per gram

so if 30 grams is the weight... 30 grams is the amt of protein.

You'll be off by ...not enough to care lol

First of all the internet is wrong wherever it said there are 6.66666 tbsp in 100 grams, there are 6.66666 tbsp in 100 ml.  This may get math geeky a bit but here goes.  Grams is a measurement of weight and tbsp are a measurement of volume.  You can't say how many tbsp are there in 100 grams because the volume of everything we measure is not the same.  For instance 100 grams of feathers take up more space(volume) than 100 grams of rocks would.  The only way to know it to actually measure out one level tbsp and then weigh it on a food scale in grams and multiply the number of grams by .93 as the protein powder at Bulk Barn is .93 grams of protein per gram.  Confused yet?

Both Dawn and I bought the protein powder and measured it and weighed it and we both came out to 5.2 grams of protein per level tbsp if you use an actual measuring spoon.  If you just use a regular tbsp then your mileage may vary  If you own a food scale you can check for yourself.   Unfortunately this is nowhere near 15 grams of protein in 1 tbsp.
