Thanks to everyone  that responded.  To those that replied here, I have replied to your post as I cannot private message.  I have not been able to pm anyone for awhile now.

For those that pm'd me...well a big thank you to all you guys as well.

The general consensus seems to limit carbs (which I know we have to do post op)..so I think I will stick to that...no matter what Canada's food guide says.

I am grateful for this forum...its a safe place to come to, where reassurance, support and compassion are only a click away.

You guys rock!

First of all, you need to keep status quo. If you lose too much (under 40), it might or might not disqualify you. If you gain ... depends on the center, but also might be an issue, so my advise would be to buy a scale and weigh yourself at least once a week.

You don't have to follow Canadian food guide to the letter, because it's oriented on physically healthy, active, AVERAGE person. We are not these people - we all have metabolic disorders and our bodies function in a different way than average bodies do. They (clinic) recommends general, common thing, but it's not necessarily best for you. Also, don't forget about personal/professional "bias" on many health workers (nutritionists as well). I saw a Nut, obsessed with low fat, who, even knowing that I'm a DSer, insisted on low fat "balanced" diet of 1200 cal (with 80-60% malabsorption I would starve on this amount) and another one who only believed in Atkins-kind of diet (this one I liked - matches my needs).

What I'm trying to say is - use your judgment, and follow the rules in a smart way - not blindly. If your body tells you different than an "average" recommendation requires...liten to your body and if you need reassurance - talk to your center, but don't follow every word blindly and thoughtlessly.
