Hospital NSV
I will say that I "eventually" took it. I went through a very rough patch after my separation....luckily it was brief and I got my head on straight thanks to therapy, this forum and WLS groups. I don't know how anyone does this without support of those who have been through the same thing!!!
Surgery March 23/2011. Completed three full marathons and two half marathons, two half Ironman distances. Completed my first Full Ironman distance (4 km swim, 180 km bike, 42.2 km (full marathon) run) in Muskoka August 30/2015. Next Ironman Lake Placid July 23/2017!
I have to say too, throughout the myriad doctor appointments I have had, they are, without fail, completely and enthusiastically supportive of my decision. Other people poo poo and make judgements, but those in the medical professions seem to totally get that, for some people, this is the absolutely best decision. It always makes me feel great when I explain what I am doing and they give me the thumbs up high five. I am pretty good at telling when someone is being genuine, and I haven't had any lip service yet.
That's great to hear! My family doctor suggested it. She looked at me and said that I wouldn't make it to 50 at the rate I was going. She was very supportive. And all professionals have been since.
One of my dieticians said that Mexico uses RNY to resolve type 2 diabetes. People with a BMI of 30+ (and diabetic) qualify. That is how much this surgery works for most people! Amazing!

Bravo! Did you ever think, before surgery, that you would ever be able to be described as "an athlete"? :) Very nice!
