Hi, I am sure this has been answered here before but my search queries are only bringing up american answers. I am almost 2 years out and have lost 124lbs.. i am at my suggested weight and then some.. been here for a few months now.. I am looking into plastic surgery. I live near Windsor Ontario, I am ok with going to the US even for it. can anyone tell me a decent plastic surgeon that does, thighs, tummy, and breast lifts.. or full body contour or lift they might call it and rough prices? also has anyone had any luck getting OHIP or any insurance companies green shield etc paying for any of it?

Thank you in advance,

Donna

if you have lost a significant amount of weight and you complain enough to your family doctor of back pain from excess skin, or irritable rashes under flabby skin then your family doctor will write you a referral to the hospital that has a plastics department and most of the time OHIP will cover part of it.  But you need to be patient and have a few visits with your family doctor and ensure he records it.

I am having plastics on Monday. I am having a pannulectomy (hanging apron), abdominoplasty (vertical skin tightening) and lyposuction to my upper arms.

The panni is covered by OHIP  the abdominoplasty is $2000 (no muscle work, just skin) the lypo of my upper arms is $2000

plus HST and a $450 hospital booking fee.

OHIP will sometimes cover the panni and a breast reduction if you meet their criteria.  The other things you mentioned are not covered.

Hope that helps

Why is there a $450 hospital booking fee? I see my PS tomorrow, and i'm wondering if my OHIP paid panni (my only PS surgery) be subject to this fee as well?

Surgery March 23/2011. Completed three full marathons and two half marathons, two half Ironman distances. Completed my first Full Ironman distance (4 km swim, 180 km bike, 42.2 km (full marathon) run) in Muskoka August 30/2015. Next Ironman Lake Placid July 23/2017!

No - you're covered. You're having an OHIP approved surgery - meaning "medically necessary".

Hi,

I think this booking fee is based on services that are private pay. I had a massive hernia repair in May that required a general surgeon and plastic surgeon to complete (yea, I'm special  lol) it was of course all OHIP covered and there was no booking fee.

OHIP will only possibly cover two surgeries. Panniculectomy which is the removal of the lower abdominal skin and breast reduction.

There are a couple of wonderful surgeons at London Health Sciences Centre who will work with OHIP.

I was denied coverage for the Panniculectomy as mine was not considered to be severe enough.

I was approved finally for the breast reduction.

Every case is individual. You can sometimes combine surgeries at a discounted price.

Each area of the body will cost in the 6-8K range.

Lower body lift will cost in the 11-14K range.

Private message me if you want the surgeon information.
