Another FitBit post - About my little girl

So Miss Hannah got a Fitbit from her father for her 10th birthday. She has been inspired by my obsession. LOL. She has a weight problem, and is fully aware of it. On her own she decided that her New Year's resolution is to be more active, and asked for the FitBit. So far she is quite dedicated to it. She has had it for a week, and is in 5th place out of my 15 Fitbit friends for weekly steps taken.

Yesterday she outstepped me by 500 or so steps. She was so proud!

We are very open about her love for food, her weight and activity. The doctor doesn't want her to lose or gain weight. I think she has maintained for the past few months, and grown in height. She has a big belly, which worries me as I was diabetic pre-surgery. Her love for carbs is her downfall. Yesterday her skinny brother Nick offered her some of his potato chips, and she refused...politely and asked for cheese and crackers. (still not a fabulous choice, but it's better than chips...and the cheese is real).

So far another plus of owning a Fitbit!! Motivation for the family!

That's great she beat her Mom. Exercise at this age is so important.

It makes me sad that she has both my and my ex's genes. He is still overweight, and struggles with food. He is very active, but the weight doesn't come off easily. I wasn't as big as Hannah is at this age, and i'm sure that's only because I was more active than she is. So hopefully becoming more active will help.

Kelly I'm so happy to hear that!  I'm so proud of your daughter!  I also have a 10 year old daughter  who could afford to lose a few pounds so this past summer she took the initiative on her own o try to be more active & cut all juice & pop out of her diet & only had milk in the morning & the rest of the time she drinks water!  She also follows portions on the food labels like if she eats rice cakes and a portion is 8 then she ate 8.  She lost 15 pds this summer & grew a little so ppl comment all the time how skinny she looks & let me tell you she loves that! Lol

please wish Miss Hannah good luck for me!

Hannah drinks only milk, and mostly water. Her issue is strictly carbs. Crackers, popcorn, chips, potatoes...BREADDDDD

I'm not sure how I would feel about hannah being told she looks skinny. I don't want anyone commenting on her weight at all....negative or positive.

I will wish her luck for you!!

As a mother of 6 and 1 of my girls is over weight i so get it. I think moving is the best thing we can do with our kids me and my daughter have been walking and dancing was so happy as yesterday out of the blue she told me she has lost 12lbs as we have never asked her her weight or even really talked much about it. Was just so happy she felt she could talk to me she is 16 and has not been over weight for a long time just a year she is a stress eater like me .
So happy that your daughter is moving more

I love that Hannah is open with me. Did you notice your daughter's loss?
