I have started adding hulled hemp hearts, chia seeds and fibre one cereal. Not much of a change. Oh well. Restoralax is my friend

On the topic of poop and malabsorption ending...someone told me that you can tell when your malabsorption has ended by a change in your poop??  Is this true?  How does it change?? I want to know what signs to look out for...??

Usually happens by 18 months to 2 years. Although some people stop by one year and others last longer. From what I was told at TWH you will notice because its harder to keep the weight off. Especially if you start eating too many carbs (that we will absorb 100%).

I am 2 years out today and I don't think I've entered the end of malabsorption phase yet, or if I have I haven't noticed any changes.

I eat about a 1/4 cup of Bran Buds in my with my cottage cheese or yogurt daily and it keeps me regular.  I haven't had to take anything since right after surgery.

I know someone else who was still losing after two years as well (which is the biggest indicator of still malabsorbing). She has always needed help with her constipation, but is finding a change closer to three years. And her weight loss stopped probably by 2.5 years.

If anything I take lactulose- stool softner.
Pears are amazing fiber source.

Pears I can't eat well not at the moment. To much natural sugar. However, it's been a bit since I tried them. I had problems with grapes too for a bit. Even with protein first.

I had terrible constipation for the first year post op.  I took stool softeners daily until a few months ago and could have probably stopped taking them sooner.

I now go relatively normally and if I have a problem I eat a few prunes for a couple of days.

luckily I have never taken anything and almost 4 years post-op I am happy/relieved to say I still don't need anything.

I do usually eat a well balanced diet and include salad pretty much everyday.

prior to surgery 323lbs....4 years post-op maintaining between 108- 114 lb loss.

life is AMAZING when you continue on the right path~!.  Use your surgeons gift to the fullest~!

I'm three years out. I take nothing to help me poop - trust me i don't need anything. If anything I have the opposite problem. Not fun either....
