OHIP-Surgery options?
I am another happy Ontario sleever. At the beginning of the process I was told to "go home" unless I was prepared to have RNY. I ignored that advice and jumped their hoops until I finally made it to the actual surgeon. At that meeting I was well prepared with valid reasons for my desire to have VSG. The Dr. listened respectfully and asked me many questions, which I was able to answer (due to my prior extensive research on both types of surgery). In the end he agreed to do my choice of surgery. Due to my experience, I advise you to read everything you can on both surgery types and go through the process to get to a surgeon. When you meet your doctor go prepared to state your case(back up your facts with paperwork where possible) and let him/her know that you want to make the choice in what will be done to your body. Good luck and try to keep up with positive thoughts. Ignore the naysayers and fight for your rights.
