And I am right with you Heidi.  My surgery was Sept. 4/12 and I seem to be addicted to my scale.  I told myself that I would only weigh myself once a week starting 7 days after surgery so Tuesdays is  my weigh-in day.  Previous to this surgery the scale was my enemy and I promised myself not to be a slave to the numbers now.  It is a little difficult to stay away from it as we are all so hopeful and excited to see the numbers going down especially after all the success stories here on this site.  My daughter did my measurements the day before surgery and I plan to do that monthly.  I have been tracking my food daily on myfitnesspal and it sure helps to keep my on plan.  As others have said, this is for the long haul and there is some emotional baggage along with it.  Keep working on yourself....you have come this far and yeah....when was the last time you lost 16 pounds of butter in one month :)

Thank you gardeninggal ... congratualtions on your surgery ... hubby measured me before the pre op diet, the night before surgery and at my one month ... i'm down several inches ... I bought new jeans today a regular size 16 not a plus size 16 before the pre op diet I was in like a 2x .. the top half well that damn extra roll from my PCOS still has me at a 1x then again I was a 3x before pre op. I do realize I have lost inches but to me it was a number thing on the scale .. it was hard to wrap my head around the inch lost and with little pound lost .. my mom and sister have learnt that as well shopping with me fo the last two day.... had to get a new outfit that actually fit to got ot Toronto for my 1 month lol

Heidi, you're a "lightweight", the less you've GOT to lose, the slower its going to go.

I hear that all the time too, and it makes me laugh. I say that I was a heavyweight with co-morbidities.

I lost 30 pounds my first month....HOWEVER, I only had 4 days of Optifast, so I assume that's why I lost that. I probably would have been only at 20 at the most at a month out. Everyone loses at a different rate. Don't compare. You are doing wonderfully!!!!

Surgery March 23/2011. Completed three full marathons and two half marathons, two half Ironman distances. Completed my first Full Ironman distance (4 km swim, 180 km bike, 42.2 km (full marathon) run) in Muskoka August 30/2015. Next Ironman Lake Placid July 23/2017!

Really?!

Why is that?

Growing old is mandatory. Growing up is optional.

I am was quite suprised when I saw your new avatar pic and thought wow has she ever lost weight.  The scale is not your friend right now but I'll take shopping for smaller clothing for a boost any day.  (isn't this site wonderful for self-esteem....just put it out there baby :o) )
