I will be having my surgery Agust 29th and I was curious how long do the staples stay in and would I have to travel back to Toronto to have them removed?

Thank you in advance for all the responses

Heidi

Sometimes you just put one foot in front of the other, even if you don't know where you're going.

Not all surgeons use staples. Many use dissolving stitches.  I had one stitch that needed to be removed and my GP did it for me so I didn't have to go back.

I didnt have any staples (on the outside) that needed removed.  They just used disolving stiching for me.

No staples or stitches. I guess they must use some kind of glue or cauterization to close the external incisions. Only thing I had were steri strips which fall off in about a week.

Hi Heidi,

In Ottawa, they use a surgical glue on the outside and saves a trip to take anything out.
