Cost of Meds When Discharged from TEGH???
Hmmm...
I didn't have to pay for any of the drugs I got from the hospital whi*****luded, Prevacid and Advair.
Picking up the refill Prevacid under our insurance which covers 80% left $15 and change for me to cover for 30 days supply.
Long you live and high you fly
And smiles you'll give and tears you'll cry
And all you touch and all you see
Is all your life will ever be.

I was only prescribed Percocet and colace and told that if I wanted I could fill the prescription or not...since I didn't have any pain meds while in the hospital and not experiencing much pain it was up to me...and since I already had a BM there was no need for the colace ...I know some prescriptions are so expensive so I was thankful I really didn't need any...

Everyone is being prescribed Prevacid now because it is the only thing effective at preventing ulcers post-op. You need it for at least 3-6 months. If your surgeon doesn't prescribe it, you can get it from a family doc.
I had OHIP approved Duodenal Switch surgery with Dr. Dennis Hong at St. Joseph's Hamilton on March 7th, 2012. Want more information on the DS in Ontario? Send me a private message!
A study that came out last year indicated that a PPI prescription for at least 3 months post-op significantly reduced the risk of marginal ulcers. It should be standard procedure now. If your surgeon won't prescribe it, a family doc can.
