migraines
Ouch, I'm sorry to hear that Lynette -- it's got to be lousy!
Could you be having malabsorption problems with your migraine preventive medication?
Time to see the specialist/neurologist, I would think. What does your pharmacist say?
Best to you ...

I have been a migraine suffer since I was about 13 years old. I did suffer really bad for about three months post op. I believe it was because of dehydration early out. Knock on wood I havent had one in the last nine months. I think losing the excess weight has really helped in that department for me.
I hope you find relief soon. I know how debilitating migraines can be.

I have had a significant decrease in migraines since my surgery. I used to get a couple a week but now I only get a light headache a few times a month. I did go off hormonal birth control right around the time I had surgery though. If you are taking hormonal BC that would be my number 1 suggestion and my number 1 concern. Maybe it is time to see your neurologist about some new medications? In addition to the preventative medication you must take something to get rid of them? Sometimes those things stop working and you have to try something new. Keep in mind, it may be time for another MRI. Also, a massage can work wonders on a migraine. I also recommend caffeine and benadryl paired with an aleve (take just one with a pepcid). I am a serious migraine veteran. You definitely should get to your neurologist ASAP.
Thanks .....
As an FYI......I am on no hormonal therapy at this time.
I agree - I will talk to my GP about getting re-referred to see the neurologist for a follow up MRI and a review of my current med's.
I also do not take any caffeine ( I use to take Advil with the caffeine added in it) when I had my migraines (pre-surgery) but as you know we are not suppose to take any Ibuprofen based products. I have recently been diagnosed with an ulcer and don't want to fool around with my stomach with any additional med's right now.
Massage is another great idea.....and when I can afford it I also go to the chiro/acupuncture.

I get migraines about once (depending) a month or less but I haven't even got my surgery yet. (it's on Thursday) Try changing your pillow, it may or may not help but it is worth a shot aspecially if you wake up with it. I noticed that I had this pillow that didn't support my neck while sleeping and I was getting one like two or three times a wee****il I changed my pillow that actually supported my neck. My migraine was a pounding behind my right eye that I usually woke up with and that is when i thought to change my pillow and it really worked.
Also you should talk with your doctor maybe to refer you to a nurologist (migrain doctor probably not spelled right lol) like the above answer said too.
Oh and one more thing, my sister (that is only slightly overweight she has not had WLS) gets migrains too, so her doctor gave her something that she puts on her tongue (when she feels one starting) and it disolves and then the headache is gone very fast, but she can only take it I think once a week. it is called Maxalt Rpd 10 mg. but she started taking Topira mate 100mg to control them at night so she doesn't need the other one anymore, as it sounds like the meds you are taking now are not doing anything at all. Talk to your doctor about this to try and get them under control and if this is OK for you to try and if not there has got to be something else that is.
Like I said, the pillow thing may or may not help but it's worth a shot! I hope you get rid of the migrains soon as I know how terrible they are.
Good luck!
Melissa
