feels good to pay it forward
Oh Joyce -
It's so good you were able to help.
I've had a similar but unhappy experience recently.
A good friend has been obese for about 20 yeas now, and after several (knee and gynecological) surgeries has finally decided that she would enquire with her family physician re WLS.
I gave her all kinds of info, and encouraged her to do it, but ultimately recognized that she seemed to WANT to be discouraged - and sure enough, her doctor suggested yet ANOTHER diet, and didn't approve of the WLS for her.
She's accepting that, and going off to try yet another diet.
She's approaching 50, and the comorbidites are starting to pile up now.
Very frustrating.
But there's a trick to just stepping back - you can only offer so much help, and then they're on their own, you know?
