Reached my goal...do I change it ???
When I started my weight loss journey last October ...I set my goal @ 145 pounds even though according to the BMI charts that would keep me in the overweight category. My goal weight according to the BMI charts is approximately 125 pounds.
I thought with my age (50), I believed that losing 80 + pounds was a reasonable weight loss goal.
The lowest I have ever been (on a previous weight loss program, when I was 30 years of age) was 130 pounds and I really struggled to get to this weight and to maintain that weight (which I was able to do for approximately 1 year until I got pregnant).
So, here I am 2 weeks since I reached my goal weight, and I continue to lose weight (now at 141).
My question is.....
1. Do I let my body decide what weight it is comfortable at and continue eating what I am currently eating ? (I have just been diagnosed with an ulcer and have to eat very very small meals throughout the day)
2. Do I eat higher calorie foods now to increase my caloric intake?
3. other suggestions from those that have reached their goal weight would be appreciated.

Congrats on reaching your goal weight!!! I reached mine today
I saw the dietician earlier in the month and she told me to start eating full fat dairy products, nuts and seeds, consider adding another snack or reintroduce a protein shake in order to shift into slowing down my weight loss. I would consider calling your centre's dietician to discuss these questions with her.
Again, congrats on the success!

It's a good thing to go UNDER goal. We all tend to reach a lowest weight around 1.5-2 years out and then often bounce back up. I stopped at my goal and went up and it is my regret.

How do you feel right now at this weight? Do you feel like getting smaller would be too much? Do you look gaunt or thin? I think your body will stop losing when its enough. Just my opinion though. All questions you need to answer for yourself. I have nine pounds to go to goal and I will re-asses when I get there. I think I will likely shoot for 130 to allow myself a few pounds of bounce back room a couple of years from now. Good luck with your decision.

Congratulations on reaching your goal. I have read that some go below their goal so they have room to play with for weight regain which I also read is about 10 to 15 pounds.
I keep debating for after I have my surgery to what I will do as well. I'm sure you will make the right decision for yourself. Again Congratulations

Sometimes you just put one foot in front of the other, even if you don't know where you're going.
