Walk From Obesity in Ontario???

Quite a few of my friends in the States are involved in the walk from obesity. Where they raise money for awareness and research and each state has a walk. Does anyone know of something like that in Canada? It's something I would love to be involved with since it hits so close to home. Here's the link for the one in the states:

Nope not in Canada however there are probably quite a few 5ks and other races in your area that benefit related charities such as diabetes, heart and stroke.

There was a Jamie Bogart walkathon a few years ago and it was to be an annual thing but have never heard of another since the first one. Jamie died waiting for WLS and it was a walk in his memory in a fight against obesity. Similar idea to the one in the US.

I do the walk for heart and stroke but I thought the walkfrom obesity was a great idea

I think this is a great idea. . .maybe approach Humber as they, being the original bariatric centre of excellence in Ontario may be interestred in supporting and/or helping to get the idea off the ground.

I know I would participate.

I'm going to agree with OKnee and ask if you would be willing to ask Humber to coordinate.

I would certainly participate, even if I cannot spare the time to coordinate such a walk.

I wouldnt know where to start to coordinate something like this! I will still look into it and I will talk to Humber when I am there for my next visit. I am going to be involved in the EasterSeals Run/Walkathon on May 27th in Newmarket... if anyone would like to join my team and walk with us we would love to have you!!!
