Hernia HELP??????
I am 9 days out from having my Gallbladder removed. For the most part I am feeling better and my incisions on my stomach are healing nicely...
but the one they did inside my bellybutton is sooooo sore! It hurts to wear pants and when I lay down there is a huge hard lump behind it. Im probably over reacting ... but google answers scared the crap out of me lol
A few days ago I finally had to go #2.. after not going for almost 6 days.... it was painful and I strained ALOT to get it out... Im worried maybe Ive caused a hernia...
any thoughts or anyone else experience this kind of pain before???

Could be many things. The lump could be a hernia or seroma or hematoma. The incision in my belly button for one surgery ended up infected and it hurt like hell. Do you see your surgeon soon for follow up? If the pain gets too bad, I'd get it checked out in case it is a strangulated hernia.
Yes.
It's probably not a hernia, although that is always a possibility.
It is much more likely that it is a large haematoma.
They probably gave you bloodthinners, right?
Well, just like we bleed copiously when we get the bloodthinners, we also bruise really easily around that period of time.
And some of the bruises are WAYYY down deep.
They are hard as a rock, and sometimes take a year or more to finally dissolve.
And in the beginning, they are painful as hell.
When you go in for your checkup, have the doctor feel you up (palpate the lump) - they will be able to ascertain whether it's a hernia or not from
(1) how it feels to them, and
(2) whether there are any sounds coming from it.
If there are sounds, that is bowel and not haematoma.

I got so bunged up after my colonoscopy/endoscopy that I actually strained myself into an umbilical hernia. But now that I've lost some weight, it's not as noticeable. Hopefully your problem isn't a hernia.
Had RNY surgery July 22/11, St. Joe's Hamilton, with the awesome Dr. Scott Gmora. Had abdominoplasty August 2/13, Scarborough, with equally awesome Dr. Michael Kreidstein.
