OHIP Coverage for breast Augmentation

I was born with a congenital deformity of my breasts called Tubular Breast Disease. My breasts are very small, and shaped funny. I am trying to get any infor I can, and numbers for OHIP friendly surgeons. Does anyone have ANY experience in this area ? Or am I dreaming ? Its been a nightmare since my breasts started to form, I am nearly 56 now. I have dreamed of augentation and lift for so long now..I do know the surgery is more complicated than a simple augmentation. Thanks for looking !!!!!

Someone told me OHIP would cover this because its a congenital issue.

Cyn, I hope the above link helped. We don't really see OHIP pay for augmentation on this board - sometimes reduction or lift but not augmentation. Let us know what happens.

I've never heard of that happening...but I'm no expert either. I'd try Dr. Matic in London (http://www.uwo.ca/surgery/plastics/Faculty/Matic.html) or Dr. Nandagopal in Scarborough (http://www.ontariodoctordirectory.ca/Scarborough/Doctor-Nara yanan-Nandagopal-34664.html). Have your family dr. refer you with details on the congental issue you are having.

If anyone would know, one of these two guys would.

Hi Cyn, In my late teens I had an augmentation and an implant done that were covered through OHIP. I had a Dr. Simmons in Oshawa. She was great. Up until about 2 yrs ago she was still in the same building. Not sure where she is now. Maybe your family doctor can help get a referal to someone. It was all covered but had to do many pics and send in to a board for aprroval. Long process but well woth it. Good Luck! Denise

had a PS consult at the end of Sept..and my surgeon was looking for a reduction, howveer not sure what the guidelines are when you actually have a condition.

for the breast lift/reduction I had to agree to go down a full cup size.

prior to surgery 323lbs....4 years post-op maintaining between 108- 114 lb loss.

life is AMAZING when you continue on the right path~!. Use your surgeons gift to the fullest~!
