well it is official me and my 2 kids are now gym membership people lol.  decided that this should be a family thing, instead of waiting on a sitter or making sure hubby is home i have no reason not to take my kids and there for no reason not to go.  my girls are 5 and 9 and my 9 year old struggles with obesity so why not live by example.  we swam tonight for 2 hours and i swam about 15 laps with 5 of them with my 5 year old on my back lol ...... i have lost almost 45 lbs so far and figure her on my back was the same thing as being my old weight lol she thought it was fun and made me work harder.  I wanted to do more laps but she got board with it so went into the kiddie pool and did 100 reps of arm crunches (like a reverse push up) using the bench in the kiddie pool  then did 100 knee raises in the water feel great and yes may be sore tomorrow but that is ok i in know way felt over exehrted so i think i will be fine.  Had a high protien snack when i got home, some cheeze and a turkey pepperette and 4 pretzils now drinking my fluids.  I am excited to get started in the gym part but have to wait another 10 days to have the clear from my clinic.  The water for me is easy i used to competitive swim when I was younger so i am a bit of a fish.  when i get to dry land shall be the big challenges.

here is to new beginnings

Congrats on the new direction your life is taking.  I am so happy for you, as will everyone else be!  I love those moments when you realize you're making progress.  It rocks!!  Just walking on the treadmill is so much easier than before!

Here's to many many more experiences like the ones you've already had.  And btw....so jealous of your turkey pepperette and cheese....lol.

Cheers to you,
Nancy

lol thanks Nancy, how are you doing after your stricture?  are you still on puree? or have you moved a bit to real food?

It's funny you ask that because it really kinda depends.  I have been in close contact with Vivian since the "chicken incident" and she told me to lay off the heavy proteins for now and just focus on eating stuff I know I can tolerate......shakes, yogurt, etc. so I have been doing that.  That being said, I've had soups and today I tried some cottage cheese and pureed oranges and it sat ok but today my protein shake didn't sit at all when it usually does, so go figure.

I also ordered some Quest protein bars (YUMMY) and popped one in the microwave because they become like lil delicious muffins and I was able to eat the whole thing, so I guess you never really know.

I've been scared to try chicken again, but hopefully some protein packed cream of potato soup will help.

I'm just taking it one day at a time because that's all I can do! Vivian doesn't feel it's a true stricture so we're just in a holding pattern and seeing where it goes.   :)

Nancy

that is so wonderful, Robin!!! good for you for setting an example, and being an inspiration to your kids. Be careful about doing too much, you dont want to be sore and mess up your fitness groove.

It really is real, Robin, even though it doesn't seem possible.  This works, but you have to work with it and it sounds like you've found what works best for you.  Keep it up!

Had RNY surgery July 22/11, St. Joe's Hamilton, with the awesome Dr. Scott Gmora.  Had abdominoplasty August 2/13, Scarborough, with equally awesome Dr. Michael Kreidstein.

Nancy, you're still early out - you'll find that something that was good yesterday isn't good today.  Even at nearly 6 months, I find some days I have trouble with what I usually eat.  Just handle what you can each day, but be cautious and don't try to pu****  Especially after that stricture.  Even now I have trouble with milky protein shakes - they seem to sit like rocks in my stomach, but I've been forcing myself to have a small one for breakfast each morning b/c I'm not getting enough protein.  It funny how my cast-iron stomach of the past has become so temperamental!
