The patch is only optimally effective in women under 200lbs, so you have to consider if that is an issue.

I got a Mirena IUD in August and it has been great.  I haven't had a real period since.  I now get monthly spotting.  I can't really comment on cramps because I didn't even get them before, but I do know a lot of women who have had relief from cramps with an IUD.

I had a DNC and ablasion a couple of years ago, and now my period is much better.  HOWEVER, I was told by my GYN/OB that the ablasion is not recommended for anyone who still wants to have a baby, as it basically "burns" the walls of your uterus.  The DNC only scrapes the walls clean (women who have had miscarriages usually get them and they still can get preg afterwards).  Perhaps you should get your GP to refer to you an GYN/OB and see what he/she says.

i had the ablation in Aug 2011... it made some matters worse... PMS symptoms are 3X as bad thats when my craming got worse... periods are a little lighter but not much... read up on them really well before if you decide to go that route... their success rate is only about 30%... meaning that 80% of women will need a hyster or another ablation or another type of intervention within 5 years of the ablation

there are times that you may actually be releasing more blood and that is possibly the source of your pain...I never had any difficulty prior to WLS..now there are times when I almost double over in pain.  I know there are herbs/vitamins that someone can take to alleviate some of these symptoms

How about taking a 1/2 of what your doctor prescribed or asking for a lesser strength?

prior to surgery 323lbs....4 years post-op maintaining between 108- 114 lb loss.

life is AMAZING when you continue on the right path~!.  Use your surgeons gift to the fullest~!
