Going state side to do some serious Christmas shopping on Black Friday. I am pre op and after my enoscopy at the end of this month I'm hoping to meet with the surgeon so that should get me closer to surgery. My dilemma is to buy or not to but. Would it be advisable to get smaller size clothing, jackets and athletic wear or should I wait. Won't have another opportunity till next year. I'm in a quandary here. Thanks for any input.

You can certainly buy smaller sizes but be prepared that after surgery you go through sizes fairly quickly so you won't get much chance to wear them. I found that in the 26-20 range I changed a size every 15 lbs or so and then in the 18-12 range about every 10 lbs or so. You might be better off spending your money on Christmas gifts for others this year unless you just find something that you love and can't pass up.

I love Black Friday shopping and I'm already looking forward to it.

I would wait and recommend like most would that you go to Value Village, I dropped a size per month so there's no point in spending big bucks on clothing. I had the bear minimum of clothes because there wasn't time to get sick of them. Once I got to my goal then I started filling my closet. I was also fortunate to have friends and family who let me borrow clothes along the way. Like I needed clothes for a cruise but wasn't at goal and my sister-in-law was pregnant and wasn't wearing her summer dresses, so I borrowed them.

Have a good surgeon appointment

Hmmmm... I know many people disagree with me, but ... I wouldn't.  My sizing skipped all around while I was losing.  For ME... I'd be planning a total BLOWOUT for next year's Black Friday. :)

I know the thought of buying new clothes is soooo exciting.  But I looked at it this way - was I even going to LIKE the same thing a year from now?  Styles change, etc.

For me, I'll buy smaller sizes if it's a really good deal.  It's easy to bypass a size, or when you get to an item of clothing it might not fit right which would be a waste of money.  I try to be as frugal as possible, so I only shop the sale racks.

Had RNY surgery July 22/11, St. Joe's Hamilton, with the awesome Dr. Scott Gmora.  Had abdominoplasty August 2/13, Scarborough, with equally awesome Dr. Michael Kreidstein.
